The Story
In November 2023, Shebre participated in the Building Bridges Beyond Borders programme in Salvador Bahia, Brazil — a city with deep Afro-Brazilian cultural roots. The engagement included collaborative workshops with local percussion ensembles, public performances in Salvador's historic Pelourinho district, and a formal reception at the Ghanaian embassy. During the visit, the group met with H.E. Abena Busia, Ghana's Ambassador to Brazil, who commended Shebre's role in promoting Ghanaian culture internationally. The Brazil trip represented the group's first engagement in South America and underscored the diplomatic dimension of cultural exchange.
